Founder, Finewell Street Capital.
I've spent my career on the other side of the table from most acquirers — analysing, valuing and understanding businesses rather than simply buying them.
For over 20 years, I worked as an Aerospace & Defence equity research analyst across some of the City's leading investment banks, including JP Morgan, Bank of America, Barclays and others. In that time, I covered the sector's biggest names — Airbus, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, General Dynamics, Raytheon, BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce, Thales, Safran, MTU Aero Engines, Dassault Aviation, Leonardo — and dozens of the specialist suppliers that sit beneath them in the supply chain. I've built financial models, sat in management meetings and Q&A sessions, and tracked what genuinely separates a resilient, well-run, long-term business from one that simply looks good on paper.
Alongside that, I co-founded and served as CFO of ChargeSync, a software technology business built from the ground up — which taught me, first-hand, what it actually takes to grow a company, manage cash, lead a team, and make the calls that analysts on the outside rarely have to make themselves.
I set up Finewell Street Capital to bring those two perspectives together — two decades studying what makes Aerospace & Defence businesses strong and valuable, and direct experience building a company of my own — and to put that experience into acquiring and growing businesses directly, working closely with the owners and teams who built them.
Many of the best businesses in this sector were built by engineers and entrepreneurs who never intended to be professional dealmakers. They built something excellent — one product, one service, one contract and one customer at a time. When the time comes to think about the future, they deserve a buyer who understands the industry, respects what's been built, and won't disappear the moment the deal closes.
That's the role I want to play: a single point of contact, a genuine sector specialist, and a long-term custodian — not a faceless fund.
I read Law at the University of Oxford before moving into financial services. I remain engaged with the UK Aerospace & Defence community, and I'm a firm believer that culture, leadership, far-sightedness and customer relationships matter every bit as much as the numbers on a P&L or a Balance Sheet — because in my experience, they're usually what the numbers are quietly telling you.
If you're an owner thinking about what comes next, I'd welcome a conversation with no obligation and no pressure — just an honest discussion from someone who properly knows this industry.
